Hip, Knee and Shoulder Replacement
Joint replacement surgery for people with advanced arthritis has the capacity to eradicate pain and restore an active and healthy life style. Painful arthritic joint are first treated conservatively with physical therapy, medication and therapeutic injections but if these measures are ineffective joint replacement is often recommended. Dr. Delman performs hip replacement surgery through an anterior approach which allows patients to recover quickly. Physical therapy is started the day of surgery and the hospital stay is usually only 1-2 days. Knee replacement surgery is also very successful in relieving pain and restoring function. Most often the surgery also requires a 1-2 day hospitalization and early rehabilitation is encouraged with immediate weight bearing and range of motion. Shoulder replacement surgery may be recommended for arthritis, severe fractures or longstanding rotator cuff disease. Either total shoulder replacement or reverse shoulder replacement are performed depending upon the underlying condition.
Sports Medicine
Injuries and degenerative conditions resulting from participation in sports and an active lifestyle often require the attention of an orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Delman will provide an accurate diagnosis and design a rehabilitation program focused on recovery and a timely return to activity. If needed, he may recommend minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures to address conditions that affect the knee, shoulder or ankle.
Trauma and General Orthopedics
Dr. Delman is experienced in treating a variety of traumatic conditions including fractures and soft tissue injuries such as ligament sprains and tendon strains. In addition, musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions, often related to overuse, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, bursitis or tendinitis are addressed with a wide range of conservative modalities and, when needed, surgery.
